Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Dallas July 12 temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for outcomes tied to the highest temperature forecast in Dallas on that date. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and trading volume as participants buy and sell shares reflecting their expectations. This market aggregates trader sentiment into a probability estimate, updated continuously as new information and bets flow in. You can monitor how the odds shift as the event date approaches and observe which temperature ranges attract the most trading interest.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader conviction and incentivize accuracy through financial stakes. While meteorologists rely on atmospheric models and historical data, this market reflects what informed participants are willing to bet on. Comparing the implied probability here to published forecasts from the National Weather Service or local meteorologists can reveal where the crowd sees upside or downside risk. Markets tend to update faster than official forecasts as new data emerges, making them a useful cross-check for consensus expectations.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time probabilities for each temperature outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Shares representing different temperature ranges trade against each other, and the current price of each outcome reflects the collective belief of active traders. As more capital flows into a particular outcome, its price rises and the implied probability increases. The spread between bid and ask prices tightens or widens based on trading volume and uncertainty, giving you a sense of how confident the market is about each scenario.

This market resolves around Jul 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The winning outcome will be determined by the actual highest temperature recorded in Dallas on July 12. Once the day concludes and official temperature data is available, the market will settle in favor of whichever outcome bracket matches the verified reading. All shares in the correct outcome will be redeemed at full value, while incorrect positions expire worthless.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all drive significant price swings in this market. Tropical systems, heat domes, or cold fronts approaching the region weeks or days before July 12 will trigger trader repositioning. Short-term model consensus changes—especially from the National Weather Service or European model updates—often spark volatility. As the date draws closer, intraday weather radar and hourly forecasts become more reliable, allowing traders to refine their bets. Breaking news about climate anomalies or local conditions can also accelerate repricing.
