Prediction market odds on this market reflect aggregated trader beliefs about whether the highest temperature will be 20°C or below on June 26, often diverging from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on numerical models and historical patterns, traders incorporate real-time satellite data, recent atmospheric shifts, and consensus from competing forecasters into their positions. Markets tend to update faster than official forecasts when new information arrives, though both sources ultimately depend on the same underlying atmospheric conditions. Comparing the implied probability here to major weather services can reveal where traders see edge or uncertainty that analysts may have underweighted.
This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Chongqing on June 26 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is binary: traders who backed 20°C or below win if the official high meets that threshold, while those on the opposing side win if it exceeds that level. Resolution hinges on the actual meteorological reading from that date, confirmed through established weather reporting channels. No further action is required from traders after the event occurs; the platform automatically settles positions based on the verified result.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases will likely drive repricing in this market. Tropical systems, monsoon onset timing, or unexpected high-pressure ridges over East Asia could all signal a warmer or cooler June 26 in Chongqing. Historical climate data for that date and recent temperature trends in the region also influence trader positioning. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and final model consensus typically trigger sharp moves, especially in the final 48 hours when uncertainty narrows and traders lock in positions ahead of resolution.
