Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning, risk appetite, and information flow that may not be reflected in static analyst models. While weather bureaus publish deterministic temperature ranges based on atmospheric data, this market prices uncertainty and tail-risk scenarios that traders believe are underestimated or overlooked. Comparing the implied probability here to official forecasts can reveal whether the crowd is more bullish or bearish on extreme heat than conventional models suggest, offering a complementary perspective on July 1 conditions in Chongqing.
This market resolves around Jul 1, 2026, once July 1 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Chongqing can be verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological data to the temperature thresholds embedded in each contract. Traders holding shares in the outcome that matches the verified record will receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the close of the trading day, once official temperature readings are published and confirmed.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases are the primary catalysts that will move this market. Tropical systems, monsoon activity, or anomalous heat waves affecting East Asia could significantly alter trader expectations. Additionally, revisions to long-range models by meteorological agencies often trigger repricing as new information becomes available. Local news coverage of heat warnings or air quality alerts may also influence sentiment. As July 1 approaches, intraday weather updates and satellite imagery will drive final price adjustments, with the market converging toward the actual outcome as uncertainty narrows.
