Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts issue point estimates and confidence intervals based on climate models and historical data, prediction markets price in broader uncertainty and real-time information flow. Comparing Polymarket odds to official forecasts from China's meteorological agencies or international weather services reveals how traders weight model consensus, recent anomalies, and seasonal patterns. Markets typically adjust faster than static forecasts when new atmospheric data arrives, making them a dynamic alternative benchmark for temperature expectations in Chengdu.
The market resolves at Jun 8, 2026, marking the end of the trading period for this event. Resolution is determined by the official highest temperature recorded in Chengdu on June 8, 2026, as reported by authoritative meteorological sources. The specific measurement methodology, time window, and data source used to settle the market are defined in the market's terms. Once the reference data is confirmed and verified, the outcome is locked and payouts are distributed to holders of the winning shares based on their positions and the final price.
Several factors could shift odds for Chengdu's June 8 high temperature. Major weather pattern changes, including shifts in monsoon timing or intensity, tropical cyclone activity, or upper-atmosphere blocking systems, will influence trader expectations. Updated seasonal climate forecasts from meteorological agencies and real-time atmospheric data releases typically trigger repricing. Regional heat waves or cold snaps in late May could signal momentum into early June. Air quality alerts, pollution events, or urban heat island effects may also be priced in. As June approaches, daily weather model runs become more precise, driving incremental adjustments to market odds.
