Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often incorporate real-time meteorological data faster than traditional analyst forecasts. While weather analysts publish seasonal and medium-range models through government agencies and private services, prediction markets price in collective intelligence from participants with financial incentives to forecast accurately. Comparing Polymarket implied probabilities to published forecasts from China's meteorological authority or international weather services can reveal whether markets are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official models suggest.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 7 is priced through outcome shares that traders buy and sell based on their beliefs about the final temperature reading. Each temperature range outcome has its own share price, with the sum of all outcome probabilities equaling one hundred percent. Traders profit by buying underpriced outcomes or selling overpriced ones. As new weather data, seasonal patterns, and climate models emerge, share prices adjust continuously to reflect updated market consensus on the most likely temperature outcome.
The market resolves on Jun 7, 2026, after the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 7 has been recorded and finalized. The outcome is determined by the official temperature measurement from the designated weather station or meteorological authority serving Chengdu. Once the final reading is confirmed and published, the market settles to the outcome bracket that matches the recorded high temperature, and traders holding winning shares receive their payouts based on the resolution price.
Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal monsoon activity, and updated climate forecasts from meteorological agencies can significantly move odds. Early June weather in Chengdu is influenced by pre-summer heating and potential rainfall from frontal systems. Real-time atmospheric pressure changes, upper-level wind patterns, and tropical cyclone activity in nearby regions may trigger rapid repricing. Additionally, historical temperature anomalies and long-range model consensus updates published by China's meteorological authority or international weather centers will influence trader positioning as June 7 approaches.
