Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus among traders and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts issue deterministic temperature predictions based on atmospheric models, prediction markets aggregate distributed beliefs across many participants with financial incentives to be accurate. Comparing Polymarket odds to official forecasts from China Meteorological Administration or regional weather bureaus can reveal whether traders expect conditions warmer, cooler, or aligned with expert consensus for Chengdu on June 4.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 4 is priced as outcome shares reflecting the probability traders assign to specific temperature thresholds or ranges. Each outcome contract trades independently, with prices ranging from 0 to 1 (or 0–100 cents), where higher prices indicate greater market confidence. Prices adjust continuously as traders buy and sell shares based on updated weather models, seasonal patterns, and real-time atmospheric conditions leading up to June 4.
Key signals include updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, monsoon activity, and historical temperature patterns for early June in Chengdu. Major weather events such as tropical storms, cold fronts, or heat waves across central China could shift trader expectations significantly. Real-time meteorological data releases, changes in long-range climate models, and anomalies in regional air circulation patterns will influence market odds as June 4 approaches. Urban heat island effects and local pollution levels may also factor into trader assessments.
