This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 2 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/chengdu/ZUUU. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because traders incorporate real-time data, seasonal patterns, and climate models dynamically. While meteorological agencies publish deterministic point forecasts, prediction markets aggregate dispersed information through price discovery. Comparing the market's implied probability to official weather bureau predictions for Chengdu's June 2 high can reveal whether traders expect conditions warmer or cooler than consensus. This gap frequently narrows as the event date approaches and new data emerges.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 2 is priced through outcome shares that traders can buy or sell. Each temperature range or threshold has an associated contract; the price of a share reflects the market's probability estimate for that outcome occurring. Traders profit by correctly predicting whether actual conditions will fall above or below their chosen strike. Liquidity and trading volume drive price efficiency, with active participation tightening spreads and improving forecast accuracy as June 2 approaches.
The market resolves on Jun 2, 2026, after the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 2 has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on the official temperature data reported for that date, typically sourced from meteorological authorities or designated weather stations in Chengdu. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature to the predefined thresholds or ranges specified in the market contract. Once verified, winning shares are settled and traders receive payouts proportional to their positions.
Several factors can shift odds for Chengdu's June 2 high temperature. Seasonal weather pattern updates, monsoon forecasts, and atmospheric pressure systems affecting central China will influence trader expectations. Release of extended-range meteorological models and real-time satellite data closer to June 2 typically drive repricing. Urban heat island effects and local pollution levels also matter. Major climate anomalies or unexpected weather systems could trigger sharp moves. As the event date nears, intraday temperature trends and overnight lows provide additional signals that traders incorporate into their positions.
