This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 17 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/chengdu/ZUUU. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds aggregate the views of thousands of traders with real financial stakes, often capturing nuances that traditional weather forecasts may miss. While meteorological models from official agencies provide deterministic temperature predictions, this market reflects probabilistic thinking—traders weigh uncertainty, model disagreement, and historical forecast errors. The odds can diverge from analyst consensus when traders believe consensus underestimates tail risks or when new satellite or ground data suggests a shift. Comparing the implied probabilities here to published forecasts from China's meteorological authority offers insight into where market participants see additional value or risk.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism, where each temperature outcome is represented as a separate contract. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the probability traders assign to that outcome; a contract trading at 0.65 implies a 65% chance. As traders buy and sell, the AMM adjusts prices to maintain liquidity and balance the order book. This continuous pricing mechanism means odds can shift rapidly in response to weather updates, model runs, or breaking news about atmospheric conditions in the region.
This market resolves around Jun 17, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Chengdu on that date is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data, typically from China's national weather service or recognized local monitoring stations. Winning contracts are those matching the confirmed high temperature; all other positions expire worthless. Resolution occurs shortly after the trading deadline to allow time for data confirmation and any necessary clarifications.
Major weather model updates—particularly from global forecasting centers—can shift odds significantly if they show a warming or cooling trend. Tropical systems, monsoon activity, or upper-level atmospheric patterns affecting East Asia may trigger rapid repricing. Real-time temperature readings and anomalies reported during the week leading up to June 17 will influence trader positioning. Historical heat waves or cold snaps in Chengdu during mid-June, along with seasonal climate patterns, also inform expectations. Breaking news about climate drivers like El Niño or unusual jet-stream behavior could prompt sharp moves as traders reassess tail risks.
