This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 1 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/chengdu/ZUUU. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket can be compared against meteorological forecasts from official weather agencies and climate analysts. While meteorologists issue deterministic temperature ranges based on atmospheric models, prediction markets aggregate trader beliefs into probabilistic outcomes. Discrepancies often arise because markets price in uncertainty, geopolitical factors, and real-time data revisions that traditional forecasts may lag. Tracking both sources reveals whether traders are more bullish or bearish than official predictions heading into June 1.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 1 is priced through an automated market maker or order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares corresponding to specific temperature ranges or outcomes. Each outcome's price reflects the collective probability assigned by active traders. As new weather models, seasonal patterns, and real-time atmospheric data emerge, traders adjust positions, moving prices up or down. The spread between bid and ask prices narrows or widens depending on market liquidity and conviction around the final temperature.
The market resolves on Jun 1, 2026, after the highest temperature in Chengdu on June 1 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data from Chengdu's primary weather station or the designated reference source specified in the market rules. Once the final temperature is confirmed, the winning outcome is settled and traders receive payouts proportional to their positions. Early closure or extension is possible only under extraordinary circumstances outlined in the market's terms.
Key drivers include updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, monsoon activity, and any unusual climate patterns affecting central China in late May and early June. Major weather model runs released by meteorological agencies often trigger sharp price moves as traders recalibrate expectations. El Niño or La Niña conditions, volcanic activity, or sudden polar vortex shifts could influence regional temperatures. Real-time satellite imagery, humidity levels, and wind patterns in the days immediately before June 1 will also shape final market prices as traders converge on the true outcome.
