This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Cape Town International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 10 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Cape Town International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/za/matroosfontein/FACT. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money bets from traders and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data to issue point estimates or ranges, prediction markets aggregate dispersed information and financial incentives into probabilistic prices. Comparing Polymarket odds to official forecasts from South African Weather Service or international models can reveal where traders see undervalued or overvalued temperature outcomes. Market prices typically become more accurate as the event date approaches and new weather data becomes available.
The market resolves on Jun 10, 2026, after the highest temperature recorded in Cape Town on June 10 is finalized. Resolution is determined by comparing actual temperature data to the outcome thresholds defined in the market. Once the official temperature reading is confirmed, the corresponding outcome contract settles to 100 cents (if correct) or 0 cents (if incorrect), and all other outcomes in the market resolve to zero. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout automatically.
Temperature forecasts for Cape Town on June 10 will shift as meteorological models update with new atmospheric data, satellite imagery, and pressure system movements. Major weather events such as cold fronts, ocean temperature anomalies, or unusual wind patterns could significantly alter expectations. Seasonal climate patterns and historical June temperatures in Cape Town also anchor trader expectations. As the event date approaches, improved forecast confidence typically reduces uncertainty and narrows the range of plausible outcomes, causing odds to consolidate around the most likely temperature range.
