Frequently asked questions

The Busan temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature expected in Busan on June 29. Traders buy and sell shares reflecting their beliefs about whether the day's peak will fall into specific temperature ranges. The interface displays current implied probabilities for each outcome bracket, 24-hour trading volume of $67,908, and a price history chart showing how market sentiment has shifted over time. This live data helps participants monitor consensus forecasts as new weather information emerges.

Prediction market odds aggregate the collective judgment of traders with real money at stake, often diverging from traditional meteorologist forecasts. While weather agencies issue point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, this market reflects what traders believe will actually occur on June 29. Prediction markets can sometimes outperform single-model forecasts because they incorporate diverse data sources and trader expertise. However, both approaches have merit: meteorologists use physics-based modeling, while markets capture distributed knowledge and incentivize accuracy through financial reward.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each temperature bracket has its own contract, and the combined probability of all outcomes sums to 100 percent. Share prices reflect the likelihood traders assign to each range; higher prices indicate stronger consensus that outcome will occur. Liquidity and trading volume influence how easily participants can enter or exit positions without significant slippage.

This market resolves around Jun 29, 2026, once June 29 has passed and the highest temperature in Busan can be verified from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the recorded peak temperature against the predefined brackets offered in the market. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome bracket receive their payout proportionally. Resolution typically occurs within hours or a day after the event, once official meteorological data is confirmed and published.

Major weather pattern shifts, tropical storm systems, or updated seasonal forecasts could significantly alter odds in this market. Real-time meteorological alerts, changes in atmospheric pressure systems, and revised climate models may prompt traders to reassess their positions. Historical temperature records for late June in Busan also serve as reference points. As the date approaches, intraday weather reports and satellite imagery become increasingly influential, allowing traders to refine their bets based on the most current atmospheric conditions and short-term forecasts.
