Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Busan temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for contracts tied to the highest temperature forecast in Busan on June 28. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and trading volume as participants buy and sell shares based on their expectations of the day's peak temperature. This live data reflects the collective prediction of traders and provides a transparent window into market sentiment around whether conditions will remain cool or climb into warmer ranges.

Prediction market odds and traditional weather analyst forecasts often diverge because they operate on different timescales and incentive structures. Meteorologists publish deterministic forecasts based on atmospheric models, while traders in this market are wagering real capital on a specific outcome, which can sharpen accuracy or introduce bias depending on participation patterns. Comparing the implied probability from market prices to published forecasts from regional weather services or the Korea Meteorological Administration can reveal where traders are more or less confident than official predictions.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract represents a specific temperature outcome, and the price of each reflects the probability traders assign to it occurring. As new information emerges—updated forecasts, seasonal patterns, or real-time weather data—participants adjust their positions, causing prices to shift and the implied probabilities to evolve continuously until the market closes.

This market resolves around Jun 28, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Busan on June 28 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature reported by meteorological authorities against the contract thresholds defined in the market. Traders who correctly predicted the temperature range will receive their winnings, while those on the wrong side of the outcome will see their positions expire worthless.

Several factors can shift prices in this market before it closes. Updated seasonal forecasts, tropical storm systems, or heat waves affecting East Asia could trigger significant repricing. Real-time weather model runs, official alerts from meteorological agencies, and historical temperature anomalies for late June in Busan all serve as information signals that traders monitor. Additionally, shifts in broader climate patterns or unexpected atmospheric events in the days leading up to June 28 may cause sharp moves as participants reassess their probability estimates.
