Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and collective trader judgment rather than a single model output. While weather agencies publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric science, this market aggregates the views of many participants with skin in the game. Comparing the implied probability here against published forecasts for June 14 conditions in Busan can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less downside risk than official models suggest.
On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing yes or no outcomes, with the contract price directly reflecting the probability of the event. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The top outcome—whether the highest temperature will be 23°C or below—is currently priced to reflect market consensus. As new weather updates or forecasts arrive, traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. The more capital flowing into one side, the more extreme the odds become, creating a dynamic price discovery mechanism.
This market resolves around Jun 14, 2026, once June 14 has passed and the day's temperature data is available. The outcome is determined by verifying the highest temperature recorded in Busan that day against credible public sources. Traders holding the correct side of the contract at resolution receive their payout, while the losing side forfeits their stake. The resolution process is typically automated once the event is confirmed and reported.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, or tropical storm activity in the region could significantly alter odds in this market. Real-time atmospheric pressure changes, ocean temperature anomalies, or official meteorological alerts will likely trigger trader repositioning. As June 14 approaches, each new forecast update or historical temperature comparison will refine expectations. Unusual heat waves or cold fronts affecting East Asia in early June could also shift conviction, causing sharp price swings as participants reassess the likelihood of crossing key temperature thresholds.
