Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Busan temperature prediction market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for whether the highest temperature in Busan will reach 34°C or higher on July 7. Traders buy and sell shares based on their conviction about the outcome, and the current market price reflects the collective forecast of participants. The dashboard displays the live probability, historical price movements, and recent transaction volume, giving you a transparent view of how market sentiment is evolving as new information emerges.

Prediction market odds and traditional analyst forecasts often diverge because they operate on different incentives. Market participants have direct financial exposure to their predictions, which tends to sharpen accuracy over time. Meteorologists and weather analysts rely on physics-based models and historical data, which are valuable but sometimes lag emerging conditions. This market aggregates dispersed knowledge from traders worldwide, potentially capturing signals that centralized forecasts miss. Comparing the current odds against official weather service predictions for Busan on July 7 can reveal where market participants expect divergence from conventional models.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the probability that the highest temperature will be 34°C or higher. When you buy shares, you're betting the outcome will occur; when you sell, you're betting against it. The market price continuously updates as new trades flow in, so early movers who spot mispriced odds relative to real-world conditions can profit by trading ahead of broader sentiment shifts.

This market resolves around Jul 7, 2026, once July 7 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Busan is verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources that document the day's weather data. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. The resolution hinges entirely on whether the peak temperature meets or exceeds 34°C, making this a binary event with no ambiguity once official records are available.

Several factors could shift odds before Jul 7, 2026. Updated seasonal forecasts or climate pattern shifts from meteorological agencies may prompt traders to reassess the probability of extreme heat. Historical temperature records for Busan in early July provide a baseline; if recent years show warming trends, that could push odds higher. Major weather systems, monsoon activity, or unusual atmospheric conditions reported in the weeks leading up to July 7 will likely trigger trading surges. As the date approaches, real-time weather models become more precise, often causing sharp repricing in the final days.
