Prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of many traders with real money at stake, often producing forecasts that differ meaningfully from traditional meteorological models or analyst consensus. While weather agencies rely on physics-based simulations and historical data, this market reflects traders' collective assessment of uncertainty and tail risks. Comparing the implied odds here to published forecasts from regional weather services can reveal where the market sees asymmetric risk—for instance, if traders are pricing a higher chance of extreme heat than official models suggest. This divergence often highlights events or conditions analysts may underweight.
This market resolves around Jul 4, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Busan on July 4 is confirmed and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the threshold specified in each outcome option. Once the event date passes and official meteorological data is published, the market will settle to the outcome that matches the verified temperature reading. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout automatically.
Several factors can shift odds significantly before Jul 4, 2026. Updated seasonal forecasts or long-range weather models showing stronger or weaker heat patterns will influence trader positioning. Major atmospheric events—such as a heat dome forming over East Asia or unexpected cloud cover—can trigger sharp repricing. Real-time weather alerts and official heat warnings from Korean meteorological authorities will also drive trading activity. Additionally, historical temperature records for Busan on July 4 and broader climate trends may prompt traders to reassess tail-risk scenarios, causing the market to drift toward more extreme or conservative outcomes.
