Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because they reflect real-time trader conviction rather than model-based predictions alone. While meteorologists rely on atmospheric data and historical patterns, this market aggregates the collective judgment of participants who have financial incentive to forecast accurately. Comparing the implied probability in this market to published forecasts from regional weather services can reveal where traders see risk or opportunity that analysts may have underweighted. Both sources offer value: analysts provide technical depth, while markets reveal where informed participants are actually placing their capital.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares corresponding to different temperature ranges, and the price of each share reflects the collective probability assigned by the market. As more capital flows into a particular outcome, its price rises and others fall. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market remains responsive to new information and trader sentiment throughout the trading period.
This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Busan on July 13 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome will be confirmed based on official meteorological data reported by recognized weather monitoring agencies. Until that point, traders can continue to adjust their positions as new forecasts emerge and the event date approaches. Resolution depends solely on the actual observed temperature, with no subjective interpretation required.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all trigger significant price movements in this market. Tropical storm activity, monsoon intensity changes, or unexpected heat waves in the region would prompt traders to reassess their positions. Media coverage of extreme weather events or climate anomalies may also influence trader behavior. As July 13 approaches, intraday weather updates and short-range forecasts will likely drive increased volatility. Early morning temperature readings on the event day itself could create final trading surges before resolution.
