Frequently asked questions

The Buenos Aires temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature forecast in Buenos Aires on June 30. Traders buy and sell shares based on their predictions of the day's peak temperature, with prices reflecting the collective probability assigned to each outcome. The dashboard displays current odds, historical price movements, and $65,199 in recent trading volume, giving you a live snapshot of market sentiment around this specific weather event.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior and financial incentives alongside meteorological models. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the beliefs of participants who have money at stake. Comparing the implied probabilities here to published forecasts from Buenos Aires weather services can reveal where the crowd's expectations differ from official predictions, though both sources aim to estimate the same underlying event.

This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once June 30 concludes and the day's highest temperature in Buenos Aires can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing actual recorded temperatures against the prediction brackets offered in the market. Once credible public reporting confirms the peak temperature, the market settles to reflect which outcome bracket was correct, and traders' positions are paid out accordingly.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all shift trader sentiment in this market. Unexpected cold fronts, heat waves, or changes to long-range models may prompt significant repricing. Additionally, as June 30 approaches, intraday weather updates and satellite imagery become more precise, allowing traders to refine their bets. Historical temperature anomalies for that date and any unusual climate events in the Southern Hemisphere could also influence how participants position themselves before the market closes.
