Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds reflect the collective judgment of traders with real money at stake, often differing from traditional meteorologist forecasts. While weather analysts publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates dispersed trader beliefs into a single probability. Comparing the two reveals whether the crowd is pricing in more or less uncertainty than official forecasts suggest, or whether traders expect outcomes outside the analyst consensus range. Both sources offer value: models provide physics-based reasoning, while markets capture broader information and incentivize accuracy through financial reward.

This market resolves around Jun 17, 2026, once June 17 has passed and the day's highest temperature in Buenos Aires is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by comparing the recorded peak temperature against the predefined threshold ranges offered in the market. Traders who correctly predicted which range the actual high would fall into receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the official temperature reading becoming available.

Updated weather models and seasonal forecasts are the primary drivers of price movement in this market. Major atmospheric patterns—such as cold fronts, high-pressure systems, or unusual jet-stream positioning—can shift trader expectations significantly. Historical temperature records for mid-June in Buenos Aires also inform positioning, as do broader climate anomalies or El Niño conditions. Real-time weather alerts and official meteorological updates in the days leading up to June 17 will likely trigger sharp repricing as traders incorporate the latest data into their bets.
