Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders and differ from traditional analyst forecasts, which rely on meteorological models and historical climate data. While weather analysts publish seasonal and medium-range temperature predictions based on atmospheric patterns, prediction markets incorporate trader sentiment, recent weather trends, and consensus expectations into live-updating probabilities. Comparing the two reveals whether markets are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official forecasts suggest for Beijing on June 11.

The market resolves on Jun 11, 2026, after the highest temperature in Beijing on June 11 has been recorded. Resolution is determined by the actual peak temperature observed in Beijing on that date, which is verified against official meteorological data sources. Once the official high temperature is confirmed, the corresponding outcome contract settles to reflect the realized temperature, and traders' positions are finalized based on whether their chosen outcome matched the actual result.

Several factors could shift market odds for Beijing's June 11 high temperature. Major weather pattern changes, updated seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies, and shifts in atmospheric pressure systems over East Asia could influence trader expectations. Real-time weather updates, monsoon activity, and any unusual climate anomalies reported in the weeks leading up to June 11 may also prompt repricing. Additionally, historical temperature comparisons and emerging climate data closer to the event date could drive trading activity and adjust the market's probability distribution.
