Prediction market prices reflect the collective judgment of traders betting real money on outcomes, which often incorporates meteorological forecasts and historical weather patterns. Professional weather analysts and climate models typically publish temperature predictions for Beijing ahead of July 10, and these forecasts can be compared against the odds in this market. When analyst consensus diverges from market pricing, it may signal either undervalued or overvalued outcomes. Traders use both sources—formal forecasts and market signals—to calibrate their views on the likely high temperature.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares of each outcome, with prices ranging from 0 to 100 cents per share. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current market shows strong skepticism toward the 28°C outcome, reflected in its low price. As traders adjust their positions based on updated weather models and real-time conditions, the price of each temperature threshold moves dynamically. The spread between bid and ask prices narrows or widens depending on trading volume and conviction among participants.
This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Beijing on July 10 is finalized and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual meteorological data for that day, with no ambiguity about which temperature threshold was reached. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout once the event is confirmed. The resolution is objective and based on official weather records.
Updated weather forecasts from meteorological agencies are the primary driver of price movement in this market. Seasonal climate patterns, atmospheric pressure systems, and any unusual weather events in the weeks leading up to July 10 can shift trader expectations. Real-time satellite data and short-range forecasts released closer to the event date typically trigger sharp repricing. Historical temperature records for Beijing in July and any anomalies in global weather patterns may also influence how traders position themselves before resolution.
