Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Ankara temperature record market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for whether the highest temperature in Ankara will reach or fall below specific thresholds on June 30. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and liquidity depth, allowing traders to monitor how sentiment shifts as new weather forecasts and seasonal data emerge. This dashboard gives you a live window into how the prediction market community is pricing the likelihood of various temperature outcomes for that date.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader conviction and broader information flows beyond official models. While weather agencies publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts for Ankara's June 30 high, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders betting their capital on the outcome. Comparing the implied probability here to published analyst predictions can reveal where the market sees edge—either pricing in uncertainty that models downplay, or reflecting skepticism about consensus estimates. Both sources offer value; markets excel at synthesizing dispersed information, while meteorologists provide physics-based rigor.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares representing "yes" or "no" outcomes, and the pool's depth and recent trades determine the current implied probability. As new information arrives—updated weather models, seasonal anomalies, or climate data—traders adjust their positions, moving the price. The market price you see reflects the marginal trader's belief about the likelihood of the outcome, updated continuously until the market closes.

This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once June 30 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Ankara for that day is confirmed. The outcome is verified against credible public sources documenting the actual weather observation. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The resolution hinges on a single, objective data point: the peak temperature reading for that calendar day in Ankara.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and climate anomalies can all shift trader positioning in this market. El Niño or La Niña developments, volcanic activity affecting atmospheric conditions, or unexpected heat waves across the Eastern Mediterranean region may prompt reassessment of June 30 temperatures in Ankara. Additionally, historical temperature records and long-range model updates released closer to the date will likely trigger repricing. Traders monitoring meteorological institutes and climate data feeds will react quickly to new information, making the market price a dynamic reflection of evolving expectations.
