Prediction market odds reflect real-money consensus from traders betting on the outcome, whereas traditional weather analysts rely on numerical models and historical data. This market often incorporates late-breaking meteorological updates faster than published forecasts, since traders respond immediately to new information. However, both sources aim to estimate the same underlying event—the actual high temperature on July 13—so comparing the implied probability here to official weather service predictions can highlight where the crowd sees risk differently than institutional forecasters.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different temperature outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the balance of buy and sell pressure; as more traders back a particular outcome, its price rises, and vice versa. Your potential payout depends on the share price you paid and whether your chosen outcome occurs, creating direct financial incentives for accurate predictions.
This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Ankara on July 13 becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological data against the specific temperature thresholds embedded in each market option. Once the event concludes and official readings are confirmed, the winning outcome is locked in and traders' positions settle accordingly.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all shift odds significantly. Unexpected heat waves, changes in jet stream positioning, or revised climate models may prompt traders to reprrice their bets. Additionally, as July 13 approaches, intraday weather updates and short-range forecasts become increasingly precise, often triggering sharp repricing in the final days. Breaking news about regional weather systems or anomalies can also trigger rapid trading activity in this market.
