This market tracks whether Ukraine will target Moscow with a qualifying military action on October 22, 2026. Currently, Polymarket gives a 94.0% probability to this outcome. Resolution will be based on official information from the governments and militaries of Ukraine and Russia, alongside a consensus of credible reporting. Traders should closely watch for any developments regarding Ukrainian military capabilities and intentions as we approach the specified date of October 22, 2026, to assess the likelihood of a strike on Moscow.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Ukraine targets Moscow through a qualifying military action on the specified date, Moscow time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." A qualifying military action refers to an air strike or a surface-to-surface missile strike, initiated by Ukraine, directed at Moscow. An air strike includes bombs, air-to-surface missiles, and air-launched drones. A surface-to-surface missile strike includes one-way attack drones and surface-to-surface missiles such as cruise or ballistic missiles. The following actions do not constitute a qualifying military action: Surface-to-air missile strikes; Small-arms fire; Ground incursions; Cyber operations; Naval gunfire and artillery fire; Howitzers, artillery pieces, mortars, and rocket artillery (e.g. MLRS systems); Minor surface-to-surface strikes, including short range loitering munitions, FPV drones, and ATGM strikes; Any threat, authorization, or announcement of force that has not been executed. Military action that consists primarily or exclusively of munitions that are intercepted before impact will still qualify if they constitute a qualifying military action during the specified timeframe; whether the munitions were intercepted, where the munitions landed, and whether damage resulted will not be considered. A military action will be considered directed at Moscow if it targets any location within the federal city of Moscow. The occurrence, attribution, timing, and target of a qualifying military action will be primarily determined based on a consensus of information available from the resolution sources. Where multiple sources conflict regarding the occurrence, attribution, timing, or target of a relevant military action, this market will remain open until the earlier of: i) the confirmation of the occurrence, attribution, timing, and target of the action based on a consensus of information available from the resolution sources or ii) 3 full calendar days (Moscow time) after the specified date. If this period would extend past the end date, this market will remain open to allow for 3 full calendar days to pass. If, at the end of the third calendar day, conflicting reports remain as to the occurrence, attribution, or timing of the action, this market will resolve based on the totality of information available from the resolution sources at that time. No single statement, denial, or presentation of evidence will govern where it is contradicted by the totality of information. The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments and militaries of Ukraine and Russia and a consensus of credible reporting.
Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals how collective intelligence differs from expert opinion regarding the Ukraine-Moscow conflict. Often, prediction markets can incorporate a wider range of information and perspectives than traditional forecasts, potentially leading to more accurate predictions. While analysts may focus on geopolitical strategy, this market reflects the aggregated views of many participants considering various factors. Discrepancies between the two can highlight areas where the market perceives risks or opportunities that analysts may have overlooked, or vice versa.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of the event occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe Ukraine will target Moscow, the higher the price of the 'yes' shares will climb, and conversely, the lower the price of 'no' shares. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the latest information and sentiment surrounding the Ukraine-Moscow conflict.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether Ukraine launches a confirmed military strike directly targeting Moscow. The determination will be based on publicly available evidence from reputable news sources and official statements, ensuring a transparent and objective assessment of the event. The outcome will be a simple binary result: either Ukraine targeted Moscow, or it did not, as verified against credible public sources.
Several signals or events could significantly impact this market. Escalations in the conflict, such as a major Ukrainian offensive or a significant Russian military setback, could increase the perceived likelihood of Ukraine targeting Moscow. Conversely, diplomatic breakthroughs or de-escalation efforts could decrease the probability. Official statements from Ukrainian or Russian officials regarding potential attacks, or intelligence reports suggesting an imminent strike, would also likely move the market. Any confirmation of Ukrainian capabilities to reach Moscow with military assets would also be a key catalyst.
