This market will resolve to "Yes" if Tropical Storm Lowell reaches hurricane strength at any point between market creation and September 8, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Lowell reaches hurricane strength if it attains a maximum sustained wind speed (1-minute average) of at least 74 mph, corresponding to Category 1 or higher on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, as reported by the National Hurricane Center. Reaching hurricane strength at any single advisory during the market's timeframe is sufficient to resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of the storm's intensity at other times. The primary resolution source for this market will be the operational advisories issued by the National Hurricane Center (https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/). If Lowell is located outside the National Hurricane Center's area of responsibility, the maximum sustained wind speed reported by the responsible Regional Specialized Meteorological Center will be used. This market will resolve based on the operational advisory data issued while the storm is active. Any revisions to the storm's peak intensity or category published later in a post-storm best-track report or Tropical Cyclone Report will not be considered for this market's resolution. If Lowell does not reach hurricane strength by September 8, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or dissipates before reaching hurricane strength, this market will resolve to "No".

Currently, this market reflects stronger confidence in intensification than many public weather analysts, who often cite factors like wind shear or dry air that could inhibit development. Traders on Polymarket are pricing in a higher likelihood of upgrade, potentially anticipating conditions that forecasters may view as less certain. This divergence can highlight where market participants see different risks or upcoming data points.
On Polymarket, traders currently assign a high probability to Tropical Storm Lowell becoming a hurricane. The market reflects collective expectations about atmospheric conditions and storm development trends. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Price movements will continue to track real-time updates from meteorological observations, model forecasts, and any official advisories that suggest changes in intensity. As the storm progresses, shifts in expert analysis or sudden weather pattern changes could cause notable adjustments in the odds.
This market resolves around Sep 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the storm’s status is verifiable from credible public reporting. If Tropical Storm Lowell meets the official hurricane criteria—a sustained wind speed of 74 mph or greater—traders who backed that outcome win.
Several signals could influence this market before Sep 9, 2026. Key factors include updates from regional weather services, changes in sea surface temperatures, and the release of new numerical model forecasts. Any announcement indicating rapid intensification, favorable upper-level winds, or a shift in the storm’s trajectory will likely increase hurricane odds. Conversely, reports of dry air entrainment, high vertical wind shear, or weakening structural signatures could push probabilities downward. Traders should monitor official bulletins and satellite imagery for timely adjustments.
