Frequently asked questions

Currently, the odds on Polymarket strongly suggest a very low probability of Microstrategy announcing a Bitcoin sale during the specified timeframe. This contrasts with some analysts’ expectations, which suggest that Microstrategy is likely to continue holding its Bitcoin assets, given its long-term investment strategy. However, prediction market participants may be factoring in recent market volatility or potential regulatory pressures that haven't been fully reflected in broader analyst forecasts. The current pricing reflects a collective assessment of these factors, distinct from spot price expectations.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a contract directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates a very high probability that Microstrategy will *not* announce a sale. As more traders participate, the price will adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of the event.

This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will depend on whether Microstrategy publicly announces any sale of its Bitcoin holdings between October 20th and October 26th. Any official statement from Microstrategy, such as a press release or SEC filing, will be considered as evidence for resolution. The market will then settle based on the presence or absence of such an announcement within the defined timeframe.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Unexpected negative news regarding Microstrategy’s financial health could increase the likelihood of a sale. Conversely, positive developments, such as a substantial increase in Bitcoin’s price or reaffirmation of Microstrategy’s long-term Bitcoin strategy by key executives, could further decrease the probability of a sale. Regulatory announcements concerning Bitcoin or corporate holdings of cryptocurrency could also influence trading activity. Any significant market volatility in the days leading up to Oct 27, 2026 would likely drive increased volume and price fluctuations.
