Description

Ledger is investigating reports of loss of funds from users who purchased hardware wallets through third-party reseller CryptoBillis. This market will resolve to “Yes” if Ledger officially announces a plan to compensate, reimburse, or otherwise make whole any affected users for funds lost in this incident by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Any form of qualifying compensation will count toward a “Yes” resolution, including but not limited to direct reimbursement, a dedicated victim compensation fund, or a formal arrangement with a third party (e.g., an insurer or the reseller) to cover user losses. A general statement of regret, or an offer to merely assist with investigation or asset recovery without a concrete compensation commitment, will not qualify. Replacement devices, discounts, or other goodwill gestures that do not cover lost funds will not qualify. The resolution source for this market will be an official statement from Ledger or Ledger.com, however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used to resolve this market.

You’ll find the implied probability of this happening, along with the total volume traded in this market, currently at $11,365, and the 24-hour volume, which is $65. Currently, prediction market odds offer a unique perspective compared to traditional expectations surrounding Ledger's response to the security breach. While spot price expectations are often based on company statements and analyst reports, this market reflects the collective judgment of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. Discrepancies between market odds and external expectations can highlight areas where the crowd believes information is undervalued or overlooked, potentially signaling a different likelihood of Ledger offering compensation than currently perceived.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of Ledger announcing compensation or reimbursement. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined by supply and demand; increased buying pressure raises the price, indicating greater confidence in a positive outcome, while increased selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing allows the market to efficiently aggregate information and reflect the latest developments.

This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether Ledger publicly announces a plan for compensation or reimbursement for users affected by the data breach. The announcement must be official and clearly state the intention to provide financial redress to impacted individuals. The specifics of the compensation plan are not relevant to resolution; only the announcement itself determines the outcome of this market.

Several signals could significantly impact this market. Official statements from Ledger regarding their investigation into the security breach and potential remediation efforts would be key catalysts. Any regulatory scrutiny or legal action related to the breach could also move the market. Furthermore, reports of the extent of user data compromised and the financial impact on affected individuals could influence trader sentiment. Positive news regarding Ledger's recovery efforts might increase confidence, while further negative developments could decrease it, shifting the odds accordingly.
