On October 13, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that Abdulrahman Alfozan, an OpenAI employee and Saudi national, had been arrested and charged after allegedly installing a covert audio recording device in an executive conference room at OpenAI's San Francisco offices (see: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/saudi-national-arrested-installing-surreptitious-audio-recording-device-openai). This market will resolve to "Yes" if the U.S. federal government or OpenAI publicly alleges that Abdulrahman Alfozan acted on behalf of the listed entity in connection with this incident between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For listed countries, the alleged conduct must be attributed to the government of the listed country, its intelligence or security services, or a state-affiliated entity of the listed country. Alfozan's nationality alone will not qualify. For listed companies or individuals, the alleged conduct must be attributed to the listed company, its subsidiaries, or the listed individual. A qualifying allegation must definitively state that Alfozan acted on behalf of, or under the direction, control, or sponsorship of, the listed entity. Statements that merely speculate about or suggest possible ties, or that describe only contact, cooperation, or association with the listed entity, will not qualify. Qualifying allegations include charging documents, court filings, and on-the-record statements by the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI, or other U.S. federal agencies or their authorized representatives acting in an official capacity, as well as official statements by OpenAI. Once a qualifying allegation has been made, no subsequent retraction will be relevant for purposes of this market. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the U.S. government and OpenAI.

Currently, the odds in this market suggest a high probability that the OpenAI spy will be accused of working for Google, aligning with some analyst speculation about potential corporate espionage. However, many analysts remain uncertain, citing a lack of concrete evidence and the possibility of accusations pointing to other nations or organizations. This market offers a different perspective than traditional polls or expert opinions, as it represents a collective forecast based on individuals putting their capital behind their beliefs. The dynamic nature of this market allows for rapid adjustments as new information emerges, potentially diverging from static analyst forecasts.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell shares of each possible outcome, establishing the odds. The price of a share reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price is determined solely by supply and demand; if more traders believe an outcome is likely, they will bid up the price of shares in that outcome, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic and efficient mechanism for aggregating information and forecasting the future.
This market resolves around Jan 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will resolve based on which entity the OpenAI spy is publicly and officially accused of working for, as reported by a major news outlet or government investigation. The accusation must be substantial and widely reported to be considered for resolution. This market aims to reflect the prevailing public perception of the spy’s affiliation at the time of resolution, based on available evidence.
Several signals could significantly shift the odds in this market. A leak of further evidence, a formal investigation announcement by a government agency, or a high-profile statement from OpenAI or a competing organization could all cause substantial price movements. Increased media attention focused on specific entities, or the emergence of new information about the spy’s background and connections, would also likely impact trading activity. Any event that alters the perceived likelihood of an accusation against a particular entity has the potential to move this market considerably before Jan 1, 2027.
