Generally, prediction market odds tend to be more accurate than traditional analyst forecasts, as they reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders. However, it’s not uncommon to see initial discrepancies between this market and pre-tournament predictions from sports analysts. Analysts often rely on subjective factors and pre-existing biases, while this market aggregates information from many sources and adjusts rapidly to new data. Over time, the market often converges towards a more accurate assessment of each team’s chances.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing each team’s probability of qualifying. The price of each contract reflects the current market consensus on that team’s chances. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe a team will qualify, the higher the price of its contract will be, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the odds continuously adapt to new information and changing perceptions.
This market resolves around Oct 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final list of teams qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official qualification results as determined by FIFA. The market will reflect which teams have successfully secured their place in the tournament based on the established qualification process. Any disputes regarding qualification will be resolved based on official FIFA rulings.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Major injuries to key players on national teams, unexpected results in qualifying matches, changes in team management, and even geopolitical events could all shift the odds. Positive or negative news regarding a country’s economic or political stability could also influence perceptions of their ability to host or participate successfully. Any significant development affecting a team’s performance or qualification prospects has the potential to move this market.
