Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the SPY/USDT price at the end of the time range specified in the title is greater than the price at the beginning of that range. It will resolve to "Down" if the SPY/USDT price at the end of the time range is lower than the price at the beginning of that range. If the two prices are exactly equal, the market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source for this market is Chainlink, specifically the SPY/USDT data stream available at https://data.chain.link/streams/spy-usdt-markpriceindex-datalink?timeframe=1d&chart=candlestick To verify the final price, use the close price of the 5m candlestick just before the market's end time. For example, for a market running from 1:00 to 1:15 PM ET, use the close price of the 1:10 PM candlestick as the final price. The resolution source uses the index price (field i) from Binance's USDS-Margined Futures Mark Price Stream for All Markets (!markPrice@arr), denominated in the quote currency. This market is based solely on the price reported by the Chainlink SPY/USDT data stream, not on other sources or futures markets. If Chainlink data is unavailable or otherwise unusable for resolution, the market will resolve based on a consensus of reliable sources. 2026-10-21T16:45:00Z

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. While analysts may rely on fundamental or technical analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information and potential catalysts. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, as prediction markets can quickly adapt to new information and changing sentiment. This market provides a real-time assessment of probabilities, potentially offering insights that differ from static analyst predictions about the SPY’s short-term direction.

On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the SPY will close up or down within the specified timeframe. The price of these contracts fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a probability estimate. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price converges towards what the crowd believes is the most likely outcome. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows for a real-time assessment of market sentiment regarding the SPY’s direction, driven entirely by user activity.

This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on whether the SPY ETF closed higher or lower between 12:45 PM and 1:00 PM ET on October 21st. The final price of the SPY during that period will be the determining factor. Traders will then be paid out based on whether their prediction aligned with the actual direction of the SPY during the specified timeframe, as reported by established financial data sources.

Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 21, 2026. Unexpected economic data releases, such as inflation reports or unemployment numbers, could influence investor sentiment and impact the SPY. Major geopolitical events or shifts in Federal Reserve policy expectations could also trigger substantial price movements. Company-specific news related to large SPY constituents, or even broader market sentiment shifts driven by social media or news headlines, could all contribute to changes in the odds. Any unforeseen event that alters the perceived risk or reward associated with the SPY could drive trading activity and shift the market’s direction.
