Currently, the odds in this market reflect a collective prediction about Seoul’s October precipitation. These predictions are formed by individuals trading on Polymarket, and can be compared to forecasts from meteorological analysts. If analysts predict a higher probability of rainfall than is currently priced into this market, an opportunity might exist to profit by taking the opposite position. However, it’s important to note that prediction markets often incorporate a wider range of information and perspectives than traditional forecasts, potentially leading to differing viewpoints.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. This dynamic pricing means the market is constantly updating its forecast based on new information and changing sentiment regarding Seoul’s October weather patterns.
This market resolves around Jan 8, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the total precipitation recorded in Seoul, South Korea during the calendar month of October. Data will be sourced from established meteorological agencies to ensure an accurate and objective determination of whether the market resolves in favor of higher or lower precipitation levels than those represented by the traded shares.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before its resolution date. Major weather events, such as the formation of a typhoon near the Korean peninsula, would likely cause substantial shifts in the odds. Long-range weather forecasts released by reputable meteorological organizations will also play a role, as will any significant changes in climate patterns. Unexpectedly warm or cold temperatures could also impact predictions, as could any official announcements regarding potential drought conditions or increased rainfall risks in the Seoul region.
