This event group forecasts the winner of the Best Actress award at the 99th Academy Awards in 2027. The markets resolve to the actress officially announced as the winner by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
The Academy Awards are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to honor outstanding artistic and technical achievements in film. For the 99th Academy Awards in 2027, nominations are scheduled to be announced on January 21, followed by the ceremony on March 14, 2027. This market will resolve according to the listed actress who wins the 99th Academy Award for Best Actress. If an actress is not officially nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress when the 2027 nominees are announced, the corresponding market will immediately resolve to "No". In case of a tie for the winner, this market will resolve in favor of the nominated actress whose listed last name comes first in alphabetical order. If, for any reason, no winner is declared by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Academy Awards and AMPAS, including data from their website (e.g., https://www.oscars.org/) and the live broadcast of the award ceremony; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional analyst forecasts. Analysts may be influenced by biases or narratives, while this market reflects the 'wisdom of the crowd,' aggregating diverse opinions into a single, quantifiable probability. While analyst predictions can be valuable, the real-money incentives in this market can lead to more accurate forecasts, as traders risk capital on their beliefs. Discrepancies can highlight areas where the market perceives information differently than conventional wisdom, potentially identifying overlooked factors influencing the outcome.
Prices on Polymarket and Predict can diverge for several reasons. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading dynamics, and liquidity, leading to differing price discovery processes. Additionally, differing risk appetites among traders on each platform can influence odds. For example, if Polymarket attracts more risk-averse traders, they might be more inclined to bet on perceived safer options, driving down the odds of long-shot candidates. Conversely, Predict might have a higher concentration of speculative traders willing to take bigger risks.
This market resolves around Jul 1, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The winner of the Best Actress award at the 99th Academy Awards will determine the outcome of this market. The official announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will serve as the basis for verification. Any potential disputes will be resolved by referencing the official Academy records and widely accepted media coverage of the event.
Several factors could significantly shift the odds in this market. Major award nominations and wins leading up to the Oscars, such as the Golden Globes or the Critics' Choice Awards, will likely impact perceived frontrunners. Critical reviews and box office performance of films featuring potential nominees can also influence trading activity. Unexpected events, like a scandal involving a leading actress or a particularly compelling performance in a late-year release, could introduce volatility. Shifts in public sentiment, as measured by social media and online polls, might also play a role.
