Intro

This market tracks whether OpenAI will release its “Astra” model by September 30, 2026, and whether it will be released on September 4, 2026 specifically. Currently, Polymarket gives a 98.4% probability to the release occurring on September 4, 2026, and a 0.9% probability to there being no release by September 30, 2026. The market will resolve based on official information from OpenAI, as detailed in the resolution source. Keep an eye on OpenAI’s announcements leading up to September 30, 2026, the estimated resolution date for this market, to see if they confirm a public launch of the “Astra” model.

Polymarket

On August 1, 2026, OpenAI publicly disclosed "Astra," describing an internal version of Astra as its "next major model." You can read more about that here: https://openai.com/index/ten-advances-in-mathematics/. This market will resolve according to the calendar date (ET) on which OpenAI's "Astra" model, or a model confirmed to be the same model referenced in the announcement described above, is made available to the general public. A qualifying model must be named "Astra" (including variants or successor branding such as Astra 1, Astra 6, Astra X, GPT-6 Astra, or similar naming or rebranded versions) or be confirmed to be the same model referenced in the announcement by OpenAI or by a consensus of credible reporting. Products labeled as GPT-5.7, GPT-6, or similar will only count if they are confirmed to be the same model referenced in the announcement. For this market to resolve according to a given date, the qualifying model (as defined above) must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be either clearly defined and publicly announced by OpenAI as being accessible to the general public or otherwise made publicly accessible and explicitly labeled within the company's official website. Labeling errors, placeholder text, or version names displayed on the website that do not correspond to a model that is actually accessible to the general public will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in different outcomes. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the prices fluctuate, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of various release dates for OpenAI's Astra. The market's price discovery process is driven by the collective intelligence of its participants, aiming to reflect the most accurate prediction possible.

This market is scheduled to resolve around Sep 30, 2026. The outcome will be determined by verifying the official release date of OpenAI’s Astra model against credible public reporting. The resolution will focus on the date when OpenAI publicly announces the general availability of Astra, making it accessible to developers or end-users. Any subsequent updates or revisions to the model won’t affect the resolution, which is based solely on the initial release announcement. The resolution process aims to provide a clear and objective determination of the market’s outcome.

Several signals or events could significantly impact this market. Official announcements from OpenAI regarding Astra’s development progress, including timelines or feature reveals, would be major catalysts. Leaks or credible reports about the release date could also cause substantial price movements. Broader news concerning OpenAI’s overall strategy, funding, or competitive landscape could indirectly influence the market. Unexpected delays in development or regulatory hurdles could push the release date back, while successful testing and positive feedback might accelerate it. Monitoring these factors will be key to understanding shifts in this market.
