Prediction market odds reflect the collective judgment of traders with real money at stake, often incorporating meteorological forecasts, historical climate patterns, and emerging weather models. Professional weather analysts publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on numerical weather prediction systems, while this market aggregates those signals plus trader conviction into probabilistic odds. When analyst consensus shifts or new model runs are released, market prices typically adjust within hours, making them a useful real-time gauge of expected outcomes relative to expert opinion.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares tied to each temperature outcome bracket. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market uses an automated market maker (AMM) model, so prices adjust continuously based on order flow and liquidity depth. As traders place bets on warmer or cooler scenarios, the odds for each outcome shift in real time, creating a dynamic price discovery process that reflects the latest information and trader sentiment about London's weather on that date.
This market resolves around Jul 6, 2026, once the event date has passed and the lowest temperature recorded in London on July 6 is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by comparing the final recorded low temperature against the predefined outcome brackets established at market creation. Traders holding shares in the winning bracket receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless.
Major weather model updates, seasonal forecasts, and atmospheric pressure systems can significantly shift odds in this market. Heat waves, cold fronts, or unusual jet stream patterns reported by meteorological agencies often trigger sharp repricing. Real-time weather alerts, climate anomalies, and even historical temperature records for that date can influence trader positioning. As July 6 approaches, actual daily forecasts become more precise, typically narrowing the range of plausible outcomes and concentrating liquidity around the most likely temperature brackets.
