This is a market about the seasonally adjusted total number of job openings in the United States in September 2026, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS). This market will resolve to the bracket containing the seasonally adjusted total number of job openings for the total nonfarm sector in September 2026, as reported in the monthly JOLTS report published by the BLS. The resolution source for this market will be the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey report released for September 2026 (https://www.bls.gov/jlt/), currently scheduled to be released on November 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET. Resolution of this market will take place upon release of the aforementioned data. Note: the resolution source for this market will be the official monthly JOLTS report, which reports job openings in thousands of openings. Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Rounding employed in the headline figure will not impact settlement, where a more precise figure is reported. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the BLS does not release the relevant figures on the scheduled date, this market may remain open up until the scheduled release time of the next JOLTS report (https://www.bls.gov/schedule/2026/home.htm). If the information is not released by that time, this market will resolve according to the figures of the most recent previous month with available data.

Currently, the prevailing sentiment in this market suggests a high probability of a specific range for JOLTS job openings. This contrasts with traditional analyst forecasts, which often rely on econometric models and surveys. While analysts may predict a certain range, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, reflecting a broader range of information and perspectives. Discrepancies between prediction market odds and analyst forecasts can highlight areas of disagreement or uncertainty regarding the future state of the labor market, offering a unique perspective on economic expectations.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of the corresponding contract will be. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, providing a real-time assessment of expectations for the September 2026 JOLTS report.
This market resolves around Nov 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official JOLTS report for September 2026 is released and the data is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the number of job openings reported in the JOLTS survey for that month. Traders will be able to see the official data and how it aligns with the predictions made in this market, demonstrating the accuracy of the collective forecast. The market will then settle based on whether the reported number falls within the predefined outcome categories.
Several economic signals and events could significantly influence this market. Unexpected changes in the overall economic growth rate, shifts in monetary policy by the Federal Reserve, or major announcements regarding unemployment rates could all impact trader sentiment. Additionally, industry-specific reports detailing hiring trends or layoffs in key sectors could also move the market. Any news that alters expectations about the demand for labor is likely to be reflected in the price of contracts within this market, as traders adjust their forecasts based on the latest information.
