This event tracks whether Ethereum's price reaches various high-value thresholds at any point over a multi-year period. It uses minute-by-minute price checks to determine if the cryptocurrency's value surpasses predetermined levels, applying statistical methods to mitigate the influence of extreme fluctuations.
All markets resolve to Yes if, at any minute between issuance and 11:59 PM ET on October 31, 2026, the trimmed mean price of ETH exceeds the specified threshold. The trimmed mean calculation removes the top and bottom 20% of all minute-by-minute price data collected during the market period to reduce volatility effects from spikes or drops. Each market applies this methodology independently to its unique price target. If CF Benchmarks data becomes unavailable or incomplete at expiration, all affected markets resolve to No. The Exchange will clarify which ETH version or ticker is tracked when multiple exist.
Currently, prediction market odds reflect a range of expectations for ETH’s price in October, which may differ from those found in traditional financial markets or analyst forecasts. This market allows traders to express their beliefs about the future price, potentially incorporating information not fully reflected in spot prices. Discrepancies can arise due to differing risk assessments, access to information, or simply varying interpretations of market trends. It's a way to see what a crowd thinks, compared to a single analyst's prediction.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, where buyers and sellers set the price for contracts representing different ETH price outcomes in October. Traders bid on contracts corresponding to their price expectations, and the market price reflects the collective assessment of all participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that specific outcome occurring, with higher prices suggesting greater confidence in that scenario. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures the market reflects the latest information and sentiment.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the average ETH price during October is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on a widely recognized source for ETH pricing data, ensuring a transparent and objective determination of the result. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or settle their losing positions based on the final outcome. The resolution process is designed to be clear and reliable for all participants.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before Nov 1, 2026. Major developments in the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem, such as regulatory announcements or technological breakthroughs related to Ethereum, could drive price movements. Macroeconomic events, like changes in interest rates or inflation data, could also impact investor sentiment and affect ETH’s price. Unexpected news regarding the adoption of Ethereum by institutions or significant shifts in trading volume could also lead to substantial changes in this market.
