Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Singapore temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature forecast in Singapore on June 15. The interface displays current trader sentiment through live odds, 24-hour volume activity, and a price chart showing how market expectations have shifted over time. This market aggregates the collective predictions of traders who buy and sell shares based on their confidence in specific temperature outcomes, providing a dynamic snapshot of crowd-sourced weather forecasting.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, risk appetite, and information flow rather than relying solely on numerical weather models. While meteorologists publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric data, this market reflects what traders are willing to stake on specific temperature ranges. Both sources have merit: analysts offer physics-based modeling, while prediction markets capture market participants' synthesis of available information, recent model updates, and perceived forecast uncertainty.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares, with each contract representing a discrete temperature range or threshold. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the collective willingness of buyers and sellers to transact at that level, creating a continuous price discovery mechanism. Higher prices indicate stronger trader conviction in that outcome, while lower prices suggest skepticism. Volume and bid-ask spreads reveal market liquidity and confidence; tight spreads typically signal consensus, while wider spreads indicate uncertainty or disagreement among participants.

This market resolves around Jun 15, 2026, after the highest temperature in Singapore on June 15 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting, typically from Singapore's meteorological authority or widely recognized weather data sources. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout proportionally, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution timing may extend slightly beyond the end date to allow for official data publication and verification.

Market prices will likely shift in response to updated weather model runs, seasonal climate patterns, and real-time atmospheric conditions as June 15 approaches. Major catalysts include tropical weather systems, monsoon activity changes, or unexpected heat waves affecting the region. Short-term signals such as humidity levels, wind patterns, and upper-atmosphere pressure anomalies can trigger rapid repricing. As the event date nears, intraday weather updates and final model consensus typically drive the most volatile trading, with prices converging toward the actual outcome as uncertainty diminishes.
