This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Monday, November 2, 2026 is higher than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Hang Seng Index closing price for Hang Seng (HSI) on Monday, November 2, 2026 is lower than the official Hang Seng Index closing price for HSI on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If HSI does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Hang Seng Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Currently, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional analyst forecasts for the Hang Seng index. While analysts provide price targets and recommendations based on fundamental and technical analysis, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, reflecting a broader range of information and potential catalysts. Discrepancies can arise due to differing assumptions, risk appetites, or access to information. It's important to consider both sources when forming your own view on the likely direction of the Hang Seng.
This market resolves around Nov 2, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the closing price of the Hang Seng Index on November 2nd will be used to determine whether the market settles in the 'Up' or 'Down' direction. A higher closing price than the opening price will result in a settlement for the 'Up' outcome, while a lower closing price will result in a settlement for the 'Down' outcome. The exact closing price will be sourced from established financial news outlets.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before Nov 2, 2026. Major economic data releases from China or globally, such as inflation figures or GDP growth, could shift investor sentiment. Geopolitical events, including any developments related to trade tensions or regional stability, are also potential catalysts. Unexpected corporate earnings reports from key Hang Seng constituents could also drive price movements. Finally, any significant policy announcements from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority or the Chinese government could impact the Hang Seng's trajectory.
