Resolves Nov 2, 2026
$
This market will resolve to "Up" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Monday, November 2, 2026 is higher than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for FTSE 100 (UKX) on Monday, November 2, 2026 is lower than the official FTSE 100 Index closing price for UKX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If UKX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by FTSE 100 Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Currently, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional analyst forecasts for the FTSE 100. While many analysts predict moderate growth based on recent economic data, this market reflects a more nuanced view, incorporating a wider range of potential outcomes and real-time information. It's important to remember that analyst predictions are often based on models and assumptions, whereas this market represents the collective judgment of individuals putting their capital at risk. Discrepancies can arise due to differing interpretations of data or unforeseen events.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the FTSE 100’s direction. The price of a 'Yes' contract (FTSE 100 closes up) or 'No' contract (FTSE 100 closes down) reflects the probability of that outcome, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of the corresponding contract will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the latest information and sentiment.
This market resolves around Nov 2, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the closing value of the FTSE 100 index on November 2nd will be compared to its opening value to determine whether it closed higher or lower. The market will then settle based on this comparison, awarding payouts to those who correctly predicted the direction of the FTSE 100. Traders should monitor official sources for the final closing value to understand the resolution.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Nov 2, 2026. Major economic data releases, such as inflation figures, employment reports, or GDP growth numbers, could influence investor sentiment and shift the odds. Unexpected geopolitical events, like shifts in international trade relations or political instability, could also have a substantial impact. Company earnings reports from key FTSE 100 constituents and any surprising announcements from the Bank of England regarding interest rates are other catalysts to watch. These factors all contribute to the dynamic pricing of this market.
