This market tracks whether the initial price of Apple’s first foldable iPhone will be at least $1,800. Currently, the consensus probability is 99.0% that the answer is yes. This prediction aggregates data from Polymarket and Predict, and will resolve based on official statements from Apple, with credible reporting used as a consensus if needed. Forecasters are closely watching for Apple’s expected announcement window around October 1, 2026, which will reveal the starting price and ultimately settle this market.
Apple is scheduled to hold its "Surprise and Shine" event at 10 a.m. PT on September 9, 2026. This market will resolve to "Yes" if the first price publicly announced by Apple for a foldable iPhone for the US market is greater than or equal to the specified amount. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The price used for resolution will be the starting price (USD) as first announced by Apple for the lowest-priced configuration of a foldable iPhone in the US market, before taxes, carrier subsidies, trade-in credits, promotional discounts, or bundled services. Prices announced for other regions or for higher storage configurations will not be used. Any foldable smartphone announced by Apple will qualify as a foldable iPhone, even if it is not explicitly branded as an iPhone. If Apple announces prices for more than one foldable iPhone model, the lowest announced starting price will be used. If Apple does not publicly announce a price for a foldable iPhone by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from Apple. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Prices on Polymarket and Predict may differ due to variations in trader demographics, liquidity, and market-specific rules. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For example, Polymarket might attract more technically-focused traders, while Predict could have a broader user base with varying levels of expertise. Differences in trading fees, market creation incentives, and the overall volume traded on each platform also contribute to price discrepancies. These factors create distinct market dynamics, leading to potentially different assessments of the foldable iPhone's likely price point.
Several signals or events could significantly impact this market. Leaks regarding Apple’s supply chain costs, particularly for the foldable display, could influence price expectations. Official announcements from Apple regarding the development timeline or key features of the foldable iPhone would also be impactful. Broader economic conditions, such as inflation or consumer spending trends, could affect the perceived willingness to pay for a premium device. Finally, competitor announcements regarding their own foldable phone offerings could create comparative pressure and shift sentiment in this market.
