Description

This market will resolve according to the weekly influenza-associated hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the United States, as reported by CDC FluSurv-NET for the specified week. The resolution source for this market will be CDC FluView / FluSurv-NET (see: https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/index.html). If the FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate for the specified week is not released by 11:59 PM ET on the tenth calendar day following the date of the prior FluView weekly report release, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. CDC FluView reports the weekly FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate per 100,000 population to one decimal point (e.g., 0.1). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Note: Only the CDC FluSurv-NET weekly hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the specified week will qualify, regardless of the cumulative influenza-associated hospitalization rate, estimates, projections, state-level reports, or other influenza surveillance metrics published by the CDC or other sources.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard tracks real-time odds and price history for the flu hospitalization market, along with 24-hour volume of $1,094. It shows how traders on this single venue are pricing the likelihood of the U.S. weekly flu hospitalization rate per 100,000 falling below a specific threshold in Week 31, offering a dynamic view of market sentiment and trading activity.

Currently, this market reflects a strong tilt toward the outcome where the flu hospitalization rate remains low, contrasting with some analyst forecasts that may anticipate higher activity depending on seasonal trends and vaccine effectiveness. The gap between market odds and certain expert projections could tighten if new data emerges about flu strains or public health interventions before Aug 14, 2026.

This market resolves around Aug 14, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final determination will hinge on official U.S. health statistics for the specified week, ensuring an objective and transparent close based on real-world data.

Key signals include early releases of flu surveillance reports, changes in vaccination coverage, or unexpected spikes in respiratory illness cases. Any major public health announcements — such as new treatment guidelines or shifts in flu strain prevalence — could also cause rapid repricing in this market as traders adjust their expectations ahead of the final week.
