Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for Dow Jones (DJIA) on Monday, July 27, 2026 is higher than the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for DJIA on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for Dow Jones (DJIA) on Monday, July 27, 2026 is lower than the official Dow Jones Industrial Average closing price for DJIA on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DJIA does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by Dow Jones Industrial Average for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Frequently asked questions

Compared to traditional analyst forecasts, this market often reveals a more aggressive or contrarian view. Where analysts may project narrow ranges or neutral outlooks, traders on Polymarket assign a clear probability split between up and down outcomes. The current odds reflect a weighted consensus of thousands of individual bets, which can diverge noticeably from institutional reports depending on recent news or macro shifts.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, prices are set through a continuous order book where buyers and sellers place bids and asks. The displayed percentage represents the implied probability of the leading outcome, derived from the best available bid-ask spread. Volume of $12,658 supports this pricing model, allowing rapid adjustments as new information emerges or trader sentiment shifts dramatically.

This market resolves around Jul 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Traders will watch the closing value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average on that day, as recorded by major financial data providers. The result is binary — either up or down relative to the prior close — and automatically settled by Polymarket once official figures are published.

Key events such as major economic announcements, Federal Reserve policy updates, or unexpected market volatility can shift this market quickly. Strong earnings reports from Dow components, geopolitical developments, or sudden shifts in sector performance also influence trader sentiment. As Jul 27, 2026 approaches, any data surprising consensus estimates is likely to cause sharp price movements, especially with $12,658 in daily trading volume amplifying reaction speed.
