This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the DAX’s direction. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of the DAX closing up or down on September 8. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. Higher demand for shares predicting an upward move will drive up their price, increasing the implied probability of that outcome, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information and changing sentiment.
This market resolves around Sep 8, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The determination will be based on whether the DAX index closes higher or lower than its opening value on September 8. The final closing price of the DAX will be sourced from established financial data providers and will serve as the definitive result for this market. Traders holding shares predicting the correct direction will receive a payout, while those holding shares on the incorrect side will forfeit their stake.
Several key signals or events could significantly move this market before Sep 8, 2026. Major economic data releases from Germany, such as inflation figures or manufacturing reports, could influence investor sentiment and shift the odds. Unexpected geopolitical developments, particularly those impacting European markets, could also trigger a response. Additionally, significant corporate earnings announcements from major DAX-listed companies could sway the market, as could any statements from the European Central Bank regarding monetary policy. Any news that alters expectations for German economic growth or global risk appetite has the potential to move this market.
