Description

This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, October 5, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, October 5, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Currently, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional analyst forecasts. While many analysts are providing projections for the DAX based on economic indicators and company performance, this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders actively putting capital at risk. Discrepancies may arise due to differing methodologies or the inclusion of factors not typically considered in standard financial analysis. It's important to note that prediction markets often incorporate real-time information and evolving sentiment, potentially leading to faster adjustments than traditional forecasts.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about whether the DAX will close up or down on October 5th. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of each outcome, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares indicating an upward movement, the price of those shares increases, and the probability of that outcome rises accordingly. Conversely, increased selling pressure on the 'up' shares lowers their price and probability.

This market resolves around Oct 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the closing price of the DAX on October 5th will be used to determine whether the market settles in favor of 'up' or 'down'. The final price will be sourced from a widely recognized financial data provider, ensuring a transparent and objective resolution process. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their strategies based on the verified result.
