This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, October 19, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, October 19, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Currently, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional analyst forecasts for the DAX. While many analysts provide point estimates or ranges for potential DAX movement, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, reflecting a probabilistic view of the outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, as analysts may be influenced by biases or specific models, whereas this market represents a broader range of opinions and information. Examining these differences can provide a more nuanced understanding of potential outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about whether the DAX will be up or down on October 19th. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares indicating an expected increase, the price rises, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of participants, offering a real-time assessment of the DAX’s potential direction.
This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the closing price of the DAX on October 19th will be used to determine whether the market settles in favor of ‘Up’ or ‘Down’. The final price will be sourced from established financial news outlets and data providers. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their positions based on the verified result, reflecting the actual direction of the DAX on that day.
Several key signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 19, 2026. Major economic data releases from Germany or the Eurozone, such as inflation figures, GDP growth, or unemployment rates, could influence trader sentiment. Unexpected geopolitical events or shifts in global market conditions could also play a role. Furthermore, significant corporate earnings reports from major DAX-listed companies and any policy announcements from the European Central Bank are likely to impact the perceived probability of the DAX closing higher or lower. These factors will all contribute to price fluctuations.
