This market will resolve to "Up" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, October 12, 2026 is higher than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. This market will resolve to "Down" if the official DAX Index closing price for DAX (DAX) on Monday, October 12, 2026 is lower than the official DAX Index closing price for DAX on the most recent prior trading day. E.g., ordinarily, a market on Monday would refer to the previous Friday for its most recent closing price, unless that Friday were a market holiday, in which case it would refer to Thursday, or the next most recent trading day. If the two specified closing prices are exactly equal, this market will resolve 50-50. Note that all figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. If DAX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. If either of the relevant days are shortened (for example, due to a market holiday schedule), the official closing price published by DAX Index for that shortened session will still be used for resolution. If either of the relevant days have no official closing price (for example, due to a trading halt into the market close, system issue, delisting, or other disruption), the market will use the last valid on-exchange trade price of the regular session as the effective closing price. The resolution source for this market is the Wall Street Journal, specifically the Close values published by the WSJ under "Historical Prices". Comparing prediction market odds to analyst forecasts reveals interesting insights into collective intelligence. Often, this market reflects a different perspective than traditional polls or expert opinions, potentially incorporating a wider range of information and real-time data. While analysts may offer specific price targets or directional predictions, this market aggregates the views of many participants, creating a dynamic probability assessment of whether the DAX will close higher or lower. This can sometimes lead to divergences, highlighting areas where the 'wisdom of the crowd' differs from expert consensus.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the DAX’s direction. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the DAX closing up or down on October 12. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts, providing a real-time assessment of market expectations. The current price indicates the perceived likelihood of each outcome, allowing traders to express their views and potentially profit from accurate predictions.
This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on whether the DAX index closes higher or lower on October 12, as reported by a widely recognized financial data provider. The final price will determine which outcome is considered correct, and shares will be settled accordingly. Traders should monitor reliable financial news sources leading up to the resolution date to stay informed about the DAX’s performance.
Several signals or events could significantly move this market before Oct 12, 2026. Major economic data releases from Germany or the Eurozone, such as inflation figures, GDP growth, or unemployment rates, could influence investor sentiment. Unexpected geopolitical events or shifts in global market conditions could also play a role. Furthermore, company-specific news impacting major DAX constituents, or changes in interest rate expectations by the European Central Bank, are likely to affect trading activity and the price of shares in this market. Monitoring these factors is crucial for understanding potential price movements.
