This market will resolve according to the Bitcoin difficulty adjustment that occurs at the specified block height. Block 971,712 is the next difficulty retarget height and is currently expected to be reached on or around October 18, 2026 (ET). If the displayed percentage falls exactly on the boundary between two brackets, this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Exactly one outcome in this market will resolve to "Yes". The difficulty adjustment is the percentage change in Bitcoin network difficulty that takes effect at the specified block height, as displayed in the "Change" column of the Adjustments table on the mempool.space Mining Dashboard. A positive percentage is an "up" adjustment and a negative percentage is a "down" adjustment. If mempool.space does not display the adjustment for the specified block height within 2 calendar days (ET) after that block height is reached, the adjustment percentage as shown by a consensus of credible block explorers will be used. If block 971,712 has not been reached by 11:59 PM ET on November 15, 2026, this market will resolve to the lowest listed bracket. The resolution source for this market is the mempool.space Mining Dashboard at https://mempool.space/mining, specifically the "Change" column of the Adjustments table for the specified block height. Please note that the outcome of this market depends solely on the difficulty adjustment percentage as displayed on mempool.space, or, where mempool.space does not display it as described above, the consensus of credible block explorers. Values from other sources will not otherwise be considered for the resolution of this market.

Currently, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than many spot price expectations regarding the Bitcoin difficulty adjustment. While some analysts predict a minor adjustment based on recent hashrate trends, this market suggests a wider range of potential outcomes are possible. This discrepancy could be due to the market incorporating factors not fully reflected in traditional analyses, such as miner behavior or unforeseen network events. It’s important to remember that prediction markets aggregate diverse opinions, offering a unique signal compared to individual forecasts.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the difficulty increasing or decreasing. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movement is driven by supply and demand, with higher demand pushing prices up and indicating greater confidence in a particular outcome. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly adapt to new information and changing sentiment surrounding the Bitcoin network.
This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the Bitcoin difficulty adjustment at block 971,712 is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the actual percentage change in the Bitcoin difficulty as recorded on the blockchain. The market will determine whether the difficulty increased or decreased from the previous adjustment, providing a clear outcome based on the network's state. Traders should monitor the blockchain for the official adjustment to understand the final result of this market.
Several signals could significantly move this market before resolution. Major shifts in the Bitcoin hashrate, driven by large miners coming online or going offline, would be a key catalyst. Unexpected changes in mining profitability, perhaps due to fluctuations in the Bitcoin price or energy costs, could also influence trader sentiment. Furthermore, any significant news regarding changes to mining algorithms or network upgrades could impact expectations. Monitoring these factors will be crucial for understanding potential price movements in this market until it resolves.
