As of market creation, United Bankshares is estimated to release earnings on July 23, 2026. The Street consensus estimate for United Bankshares's GAAP EPS for the relevant quarter is $0.89 as of market creation. This market will resolve to "Yes" if United Bankshares reports GAAP EPS greater than $0.89 for the relevant quarter in its next quarterly earnings release. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No." The resolution source will be the GAAP EPS listed in the company’s official earnings documents. If United Bankshares releases earnings without GAAP EPS, then the market will resolve according to the GAAP EPS figure reported by SeekingAlpha. If no such figure is published within 96h of market close (4:00:00pm ET) on the day earnings are announced, the market will resolve to “No”. If the company does not release earnings within 45 calendar days of the estimated earnings date, this market will resolve to “No.” Note: Subsequent restatements, corrections, or revisions made to the initially announced GAAP EPS figure will not qualify for resolution, except in the case of obvious and immediate mistakes (e.g., fat finger errors, as with Lyft's (LYFT) earnings release in February 2024). Note: The strike prices used in these markets are derived from SeekingAlpha estimates, and reflect the consensus of sell-side analyst estimates for GAAP EPS. Note: All figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. Note: For the purposes of this market, IFRS EPS will be treated as GAAP EPS. Note: For the purposes of this market, GAAP EPS refers to diluted GAAP EPS, unless this is not published, in which case it refers to basic GAAP EPS. Note: All figures are expressed in USD, unless otherwise indicated. Note: For primarily internationally listed companies, this market refers specifically to the shares traded in the United States on U.S. stock exchanges such as the NYSE or Nasdaq. In cases where the company trades in the U.S. through an American Depositary Receipt (ADR) or American Depositary Share (ADS), this market will refer to the ADR/ADS.

Prediction markets and traditional analyst forecasts often diverge because they operate on different incentives. Analysts publish consensus estimates based on company guidance and historical trends, while traders in this market stake real capital on the outcome, creating a direct financial penalty for inaccuracy. The market price reflects aggregated trader conviction rather than a single institution's view, sometimes leading to earlier detection of earnings surprises. Comparing the current odds here to published analyst consensus can reveal where the crowd expects an upside or downside miss.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing "Yes" (earnings beat) and "No" (miss or meet) outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the cumulative trades and liquidity provided by participants, with the odds updating in real time as new positions open and close. Traders can enter or exit at any time before resolution, and the final market price just before the deadline represents the crowd's best estimate of the probability.
This market resolves around Jul 23, 2026, once United Bankshares reports its quarterly earnings and the results are verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by whether the reported earnings per share or net income exceeds the consensus estimate that was in effect at the time the market was created. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout once the resolution is confirmed and the market is officially settled.
Several catalysts can shift odds in this market before resolution. Macroeconomic data—such as interest rate decisions, inflation reports, or banking sector trends—can alter expectations for UBSI's profitability. Company-specific events, including management commentary, regulatory announcements, or peer earnings surprises, may also influence trader positioning. Analyst estimate revisions and changes to consensus guidance can trigger repricing. Additionally, broader financial market volatility or credit conditions affecting regional banks may prompt traders to adjust their conviction on whether UBSI will beat expectations.
