Intro

This market tracks whether Russian forces will capture any territory in Kindrashivka, Kharkiv Oblast, as indicated on the Institute for the Study of War map. On Polymarket, the leading outcome—Russian entry by July 31—stands at 72.0%, while the May 31 deadline carries just 3.0% probability. Resolution will be determined by the ISW Ukraine map, with DeepStateMap as a secondary source if needed. Watch for updates to the ISW map through the resolution date of February 28, 2026, as any persistent shading indicating Russian control, infiltration, or advance will trigger a Yes resolution.

Polymarket

This market will resolve to “Yes” if, according to the ISW map, Russia captures any territory of Kindrashivka, Kharkiv Oblast, (49.767840° N, 37.579877° E) between market creation and February 28, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. Territory will be considered captured if any part of Kindrashivka is shaded under a below specified layer on the ISW map (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/36a7f6a6f5a9448496de641cf64bd375) by the resolution date. Otherwise, the market will resolve to “No”. For any change on the ISW map to qualify for this market’s resolution, the relevant shading indicating Russian control must persist through the next full ISW daily update cycle. If ISW skips a day, shading must persist until the next finalized ISW update is published, regardless of the date. Any continuous shading which reflects either "Assessed Russian Infiltration Areas in Ukraine", “Assessed Russian Control”, “Assessed Russian Advance In Ukraine”, or “Assessed Russian Gains in the Past 24 Hours” will qualify. Once a qualifying condition is met, any subsequent loss of control will not be considered towards the resolution of this market. If Russia comes into control of the specified territory as a result of a negotiated settlement, this will qualify for a 'Yes' resolution, regardless of whether it is shaded red in the ISW map. However, an announcement of a negotiated settlement that gives Russia de jure control will not qualify. Actual control must be established. The primary resolution source for this market will be the ISW Ukraine map. If the ISW map is rendered unavailable, information from DeepStateMap (https://deepstatemap.live/) may be used. If information from both the ISW and DeepStateMap are rendered permanently unavailable, a consensus of credible reporting may be used. Note: Any temporary glitches or errors in the map will not be considered.

Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money bets from traders with direct financial incentives to forecast accurately, whereas traditional polling captures public opinion snapshots at specific moments. Markets pricing Kindrashivka entry typically incorporate classified intelligence assessments, military analyst commentary, and breaking news faster than polls can be conducted and published. While polls measure what the general public believes, prediction markets aggregate the collective judgment of informed participants willing to stake capital. The divergence between market odds and polling sentiment often signals where professional forecasters see asymmetric information or public misunderstanding of ground conditions.

The market resolves on Jul 31, 2026, at which point the outcome is determined by whether Russian military forces have entered Kindrashivka by the specified deadline. Resolution hinges on verified reports from credible sources documenting Russian troop presence within the town's boundaries. The event encompasses multiple contract variants, each tied to a different cutoff date, allowing traders to bet on the timing of entry rather than just whether it occurs. Early resolution is possible if entry happens before Jul 31, 2026, triggering immediate settlement. Delayed or contested entry claims may require additional verification before final determination.

Major military developments will drive price movement, including Russian offensive operations, Ukrainian counterattacks, or shifts in frontline control near Kindrashivka. Announcements of troop reinforcements, equipment deliveries, or changes in command strategy on either side could signal acceleration or delay. Diplomatic negotiations, ceasefire proposals, or international sanctions escalation may alter operational timelines. Casualty reports, supply line disruptions, and weather conditions affecting mobility will influence trader assessments of feasibility. Intelligence leaks regarding Russian military objectives or Ukrainian defensive preparations could trigger sharp repricing. As Jul 31, 2026 approaches, the market will increasingly discount outcomes deemed impossible, concentrating liquidity on remaining plausible scenarios.
