This market will resolve to "Yes" if Gustavo Petro publicly mentions Hitler between the time of its creation and June 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A qualifying statement includes any remark by Gustavo Petro that explicitly uses the word “Hitler” in any context. General neutrality or polite diplomatic language (e.g., “Yes, I posted about Hitler”) will qualify if it explicitly mentions Hitler. Any written, verbal, or recorded usage will qualify. Text or speech contained in images, memes, or videos posted by Petro on his official social media accounts will qualify if it clearly mentions Hitler, provided that any additional posted commentary from Petro does not explicitly state that the reference is not his own statement. Media contained only within reposts or posts quoted by Petro will not qualify. The resolution source for this market will be public statements from Gustavo Petro.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect trader expectations based on real financial incentives, whereas traditional polling averages measure public opinion or analyst forecasts at a single point in time. Markets for niche political statements like this typically lack direct polling equivalents, since surveys rarely ask about specific future rhetoric. Instead, prediction market prices serve as a continuous, crowd-sourced probability estimate that incorporates breaking news, political developments, and Petro's recent public statements. This makes market odds a more dynamic and forward-looking gauge than static poll snapshots.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced as a binary contract where traders buy or sell shares representing YES (Petro mentions Hitler by June 30) or NO (he does not). The share price directly reflects the market's implied probability; a price of 0.65 means the market assigns a 65% chance to a mention occurring. Traders profit by correctly predicting whether Petro will make such a statement during the specified window. Volume and liquidity on the contract determine how easily traders can enter or exit positions, and price movements reflect new information about Petro's rhetoric or political developments.
The market resolves on Jun 30, 2026, at which point the outcome is determined by whether Nicolás Petro has made any public mention of Hitler between the market's creation and that deadline. Resolution hinges on verifiable evidence of such a statement—whether in speeches, interviews, social media posts, or official communications. The specific criteria for what qualifies as a mention and which sources count as valid are defined in the market's resolution rules at the time of trading.
Several catalysts could shift market odds significantly. Any public statement by Petro invoking Hitler—whether in criticism, historical reference, or political rhetoric—would likely push YES odds higher. Conversely, extended periods of silence on the topic or explicit statements ruling out such comparisons could lower them. Major political events in Venezuela, international diplomatic incidents, or shifts in Petro's communication strategy could all influence trader expectations. Media coverage analyzing his past rhetoric or predictions from political analysts may also move the market as new information becomes available before the June 30 deadline.
