Description

As of market creation, CarMax is estimated to release earnings on June 17, 2026. The Street consensus estimate for CarMax's GAAP EPS for the relevant quarter is $0.94 as of market creation. This market will resolve to "Yes" if CarMax reports GAAP EPS greater than $0.94 for the relevant quarter in its next quarterly earnings release. Otherwise, it will resolve to "No." The resolution source will be the GAAP EPS listed in the company’s official earnings documents. If CarMax releases earnings without GAAP EPS, then the market will resolve according to the GAAP EPS figure reported by SeekingAlpha. If no such figure is published within 96h of market close (4:00:00pm ET) on the day earnings are announced, the market will resolve to “No”. If the company does not release earnings within 45 calendar days of the estimated earnings date, this market will resolve to “No.” Note: Subsequent restatements, corrections, or revisions made to the initially announced GAAP EPS figure will not qualify for resolution, except in the case of obvious and immediate mistakes (e.g., fat finger errors, as with Lyft's (LYFT) earnings release in February 2024). Note: The strike prices used in these markets are derived from SeekingAlpha estimates, and reflect the consensus of sell-side analyst estimates for GAAP EPS. Note: All figures will be rounded to the nearest cent using standard rounding. Note: For the purposes of this market, IFRS EPS will be treated as GAAP EPS. Note: For the purposes of this market, GAAP EPS refers to diluted GAAP EPS, unless this is not published, in which case it refers to basic GAAP EPS. Note: All figures are expressed in USD, unless otherwise indicated. Note: For primarily internationally listed companies, this market refers specifically to the shares traded in the United States on U.S. stock exchanges such as the NYSE or Nasdaq. In cases where the company trades in the U.S. through an American Depositary Receipt (ADR) or American Depositary Share (ADS), this market will refer to the ADR/ADS.

Frequently asked questions

The dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the CarMax quarterly earnings outcome on Polymarket. It displays the current implied probability that KMX will beat consensus earnings expectations, updated as traders buy and sell shares. You can monitor 24-hour volume at $1,464, historical price movements, and order-book depth. The interface shows whether the market is pricing in a beat or miss, helping you gauge crowd sentiment on CarMax's next earnings report relative to Wall Street estimates.

Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money trader conviction, which often diverges from consensus analyst estimates. While sell-side analysts typically issue EPS and revenue guidance based on company filings and models, prediction markets aggregate dispersed information and incentivize accuracy through financial stakes. Comparing the market's implied probability to the percentage of analysts forecasting a beat reveals whether traders are more or less bullish than the Street. This gap can highlight where market participants see hidden risks or opportunities that traditional research may have missed.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the CarMax earnings outcome is priced as a binary contract: traders buy YES shares if they expect KMX to beat, or NO shares if they expect a miss. The price of YES shares reflects the market's probability estimate, ranging from 0 to 100 cents. As new information emerges—earnings whispers, macroeconomic data, used-car market trends—traders adjust positions, moving the price. Liquidity and order flow on the platform determine how quickly prices respond to news and how tight the bid-ask spread remains.

The market resolves on Jun 17, 2026, after CarMax reports its quarterly results. Resolution hinges on whether reported earnings per share exceed the consensus estimate established at market creation. The outcome is binary: if KMX beats consensus EPS, YES shares resolve to 100 cents; if it misses or meets exactly, NO shares resolve to 100 cents. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the official earnings announcement, once the consensus figure and actual results are confirmed and verified.

Key catalysts include used-car auction prices, wholesale inventory levels, and retail sales trends—all leading indicators of CarMax's profitability. Macroeconomic data on consumer credit, unemployment, and auto loan delinquencies can shift demand expectations. Management commentary or guidance revisions will move odds sharply. Competitor earnings or industry reports may reset baseline expectations. Earnings whispers and pre-announcement leaks often trigger late volatility. Additionally, broader market sentiment toward consumer discretionary stocks and financing companies can influence trader positioning in the final days before the report.
